Region III Administrator U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission 799 Roosevelt Road Glen Ellyn, Illinois 60137 Dear Sir This special report is submitted in accordance with LaSalle Unit 1&2 Operating License NPF-11 and NPT-18 respectively, Appendix A and Technical Specifications 3.3.7.9 and 6.6.C.

On September 16, 1993 at 0710 hours0.00822 days <br />0.197 hours <br />0.00117 weeks <br />2.70155e-4 months <br />, Fire Detection Zones 1-26 and 2-26 etceeded their 14 day time clock because the detectors were taken out of service to prevent spurious alarms cauced by work activities on the Refueling Floor during the Unit 2 Refueling Outage.

In accordance with Action Statement A of Technical Specification 3.3.7.9, an Hourly fire Watch has been established to inspect the affected Fire.

Detection Zones during the time that the detectors are inoperable.

A Spe 4a1 Report is required because the detectors exceeded the allowable 14 day time clock. The detectors will be returned to service upon-completion of the Refueling Floor work at the cornpletion of the current Unit 2 refueling Outage.
