VERMONT YANKEE INSPECTION 93-19
This refers to the safety inspection conducted by Messrs. H. Eichenholz and P. Harris on
August 8 - September 11, 1993, at the Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Station, Vernon,
-
Vermont. The preliminary results were discussed with Mr. R. Wanczyk at the conclusion of
the inspection. The inspection focused on issues important to public health and safety, and
consisted of performance observations of the conduct of operations and maintenance, and
independent evaluation of safety system status and quality records.
Our observations this period were that the plant was operated safely, and pre-staging of
equipment for Refueling Outage XVII was adequately controlled. We found that your staff
reviewed and scheduled the outage in a manner consistent with industry guidance and the
implementation of defense-in-depth philosophies.
