Dear Mr. Keppler:
MONTICELLO NUCLEAR GENERATING PLANT Docket No. 50-263 License No. DPR-22 The following is in response to your IE Circular No. 76-03, dated September 13, 1976. The required actions have been taken as follows:
1.
A thorough review of Plant Areas and Operations to identify high radiation areas has been conducted.
2.
It has been verified that each high radiation area in which the intensity of radiation is 1000 mrem /hr or less is barricaded and conspicuously posted as a high radiation area and entrance thereto is controlled by requiring issuance of a Radiation Work Permit.
Any individual or group of individuals permitted to enter such areas are provided with a radiation monitoring device which continuously indicates the radiation dose rate in the area.
In addition to the above, each high radiation area in which the intensity of radiation is greater than 1000 mrem /hr has been verified to be locked.
3.
It has been ensured that radiation protection procedures and radiatinn protection training and retraining programs specifically address the matter of control and access to such areas. Retraining on this subject for all plant personnel was completed during August and September, 1976.
4.
Procedures governing personnel entry into all actuc1 or potential high radiation areas have been reviewed to ensure that such entries are permitted only after appropriate management review and approval so that conditions within the area are knowm and not subject to 9105300372 761110 CF ADOCK 05000263 CF n
