This report transmits the findings of the safety inspection enadwR by the ' esident inigswis -

at the Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant. At the conclusion of the inspection, these findings
were discussed with Mr. Cruse of your staff.
Areas examined during this inspection are described in the NRC Region I Inspection Report that
'
is enclosed with this letter and were selected in order to ensure that your facility is operated with-

due regard for the public health and safety. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of L
selective examinations of procedures and representative records, interviews with personnel, and

observations by the inspectors. Overall, the NRC has concluded that your facility was operated
in a safe manner.

Inspectors reviewed the circumstances surrounding a missed surveillance test Due to inattention
to detail, BG&E failed to perform the required monthly surveillance test on the electric fire
~
pump. Although the failure to perform the test within the required periodicity was a violation
j
of NRC requirements, the violation was not cited because the criteria fordiscretion specified m
)
Section Vll.B of the NRC Enforcement Policy was satisfied.
