M0h7ICELLO NUCLEAR CENERATING PLANT Docket No. 50-263 License lio. DPR-22 In response to 1E Eulletin 77-05A, a review of connectors in safety systems has been completed. One application was identified where connectors located outside containcent could be briefly exposed to accident conditions; however, this vould not af fect the ability of the system to perform its safety function.
Single conductor " banana plug" connectors are used on vire leads fron primary
.containcent isolation systen temperature switches for the main steam,liPCI, The switches initiate isolation of the associated and RCIC sten:n line areas.
stean lines when ares te=perature reaches a setpoint of I 2000F thereby iLitigating the consequences of a steem line leak or breat. The connectors are co:tpletely enclosed in cetal junction boxes which prevent direct irpingenent and provide insulation from the initial tenperature increase.
Ir.z.aediately upon initiation the isolation trip signals " seal-in" and the safety function of the terperature switches is fully conpleted.
Lo other connectors have been identified in safety systens which are required to citigate accidents where the accident itself could have any effect on the connector.
