Dear Mr. Giambusso:

MONTICELLO NUCLEAR GENERATING PIANT Docket No. 50-263 License No. DPR-22 Anticipated Transiente Without Scram (ATWS)

Our letter of December 27, 1973 on this subject said that we are currently working with General Electric on performance of the necessary AIWS analyses and intend to submit a report on ATWS by October 1,1974 We have been advised by General Electric that their resources to support the many customer licensing analyses required in the near future are limited.

They find that they can complete the Common Mode Failure analysis for submittal by October 1,1974; however, an additional six-month period of time will be necessary to complete the ATWS consequence analysis.

It is our intent to submit the Common Mode Failure analysis by October 1,1974, and at that time to advise you if any improvement can be expected in the scheduled March 1,1975 date for submittal of the ATWS consequence analysis.

Yours very truly, h-L 0 Mayer, PE Director of Nuclear Support Services LQ4/kn cc: J G Keppler G Charnoff i
