As a followup to our letter of April 25, 1974 which was a response to your DRO Bulletin 74-3, we are happy to report that our inspection of Monticello reactor pressure vessel's horizontal stabilization system has been completed.
The results of the inspection of the sway bar supports between the reactor vessel and biological shield were satisfactory with no indication if improper installation or degregation during service. Similar results were obtained from the inspection of the related A frame structure betweet. the biological shield and drywell vall with the exception that the heads of several bolts were found to be restricted by a gusset veld from making direct contact f
with the structural flange. This condition was remedied by shinning the l
bolt heads with washers to provide a more efficient load bearing surface.
This was not considered to be significant to the structural integrity of the A frame structure.
Procedures and records of these inspections are available on site for your inspectors to review.
