Dear Mr. Keppler:

DOCKET NOS. 50-266 AND 50-301 FURTHER RESPONSE TO IE BULLETIN 79-14 POINT BEACH NUCLEAR PLANT, UNITS 1 AND 2 IE Bulletin 79-14 requires licensees to verify that the as-built, safety-related piping systems conform to the as-designed seismic analysis and acceptance criteria.

This letter is our tenth submittal regarding IE Bulletin 79-14 and supplements our previous responses.

The present status of our program and the actions planned for completion of work in response to IE Bulletin 79-14 are as follows:

a.

Of the 129 isometric drawings for safety-related piping, 98 have been revised to incorporate mechanical corrections and represent the as-built piping.

All but two of the remaining isometrics are expected to be completed by December 31, 1982.

b.

Of the 1,029 mechanical corrections identified, only 13 remain to be completed.

Two of these corrections require that a weld be made to residual heat removal system piping.

Since these welds can be made only with the piping drained, these corrections cannot be completed until the next core unloading of each unit.

These will be done during the refueling outage on Unit 2 in 1983 and the refueling outage on Unit 1 in 1983.

The isometric drawings for these systems will be finalized at this time.

The remaining mechanical corrections are expected to be completed by October 1, 1982.
