Dear Mr. Yelverton:
SUBJECT:
STATION BLACK 0UT (SBO) COMMITMENT FOR A ONE-TIME CONFIRMATORY LOAD l
TEST, ARKANSAS NUCLEAR ONE, UNITS 1 AND 2 (AND-l&2) (TAC N05. M85956 AND M85957)
^
By letter dated February 26, 1993, Entergy Operations, Inc., confirmed its intent to conduct a one-time shutdown equipment load test of the new non-safety-related diesel generator (alternate AC power source) in accordance with Part B.12 of NUMARC 87-00. The letter also stated that the expected schedule i
for conducting the B.12 test will be during the spring and fall outages in l
1995 for ANO-l&2, respectively, and the B.12 test is not an exception to the December 31, 1994, implementation date for the new diesel generator.
Based on our review of the february 26, 1993, letter and the additional l
information provided, the NRC staff agrees that the new diesel generator will be available for responding to an SB0 event by the implementation date of December 31, 1994.
The staff agrees with your position of conducting the B.12 I
test in the spring and fall outages of 1995 and considers this issue to be l
resolved. Accordingly, ANO-1&2 must be in compliance with the SB0 Rule by December 31, 1994, in all respects (including any related procedure changes, calculations, tests, etc.), except for testing of the alternate AC diesel j
generator in accordance with Part B.12 of NUMARC 87-00, and the B.12 test must I
