Dear Mr. Del Bello:
I am pleased to respond to your Jane 2,1982, letter concerning the emergency response plans for the Indian Point facilities and requesting initiation of a "120 day regulatory clock" against those facilities.

On June 16, 1982, we requested the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)
M to provide us with their findings on the adequacy of offsite preparedness around the-Indian Point site.
Enclosed for your information is a copy of our request to FEMA.
Following receipt of the FEMA findings the NRC will review any identified signi-ficant deficiencies and determine whether the affected nuclear power reactor licensees should be informed that they must correct these deficiencies or face possible enforcement action, including initiation of a "120 day regulatory clock."
FEMA has indicated that they will provide the NRC with their overall finding with respect to preparedness at Indian Point by July 30, 1982.

The Office of Inspection and Enforcement at the Nuclear Regulato y Comnission is responding to your June 2,1982, letter concerning the emer ncy response plans for the Indian Point facilities in which you requested nitiation of a "120 day regulatory clock" against those facilities.
The concerns expressed in your letter are shared by thi office and are among the concerns which prompted us to request the Federal
