Port! nd Gin:ril Electric Nuclear Division TROJAN NUCLEAR p1 ANT Trojan Operating Report September 1990 Revision 1 OPERATIONS The plant began the month in Mode 1 generating at 100% power and continued at essentially 100% power operation until 1722 on September 24th, when power was reduced to 85% due to steam generator high conductivity. Reactor power was subsequently reduced to approximately 5% at 2253 on September 24th and the turbine tripped off-line to repair a cire water leak in the "C" condenser "B" train.

The reactor was taken suberitical and entered Mode 3 at 0049 on September 25th.

Following repair of the condenser leak, the plant entered Mode 2 at 0348 on September 26th and the reactor-was taken critical at 0640 on September 26th. The plant entered Mode 1 at 1027 on September 26th.

At.1145 on Septecber 26th reactor power was held at 8% due to condensate conductivity alarm. The plant entered Mode 2 at 1356 on September 26th to repair a second cire water leak in the "C" condenser "B" train. This leak was determined to be the same tube as previously plugged. A different type.of plug was subsequently installed.

Upon completion of the second tube leak repair, the plant entered Mode 1 at 0111 on September 27th.' When attempting to synchronize the generator to the grid, at 0247 on-September 27th the generator output breaker to the grid failed to properly shut.

The turbine was manually tripped at 0430 on September 27th to f

support turbine inspections and generator output' breaker troubleshooting. The plant entered Mode 2 at 0440 on September 27th and was later placed in Mode 3 at 0829 on September 27th.

The plant ended the month in Mode 3 with turbine inspections / repairs in progress.

MAJOR MAINTEllANCE COMPLETED Significant maintenance completed during the month:

Repair of the condenser tube leaks.
