NRC INSPECTION REPORT 50-498/93-40; 50-499/93-40
This refers to the inspection conducted by John L. Pellet of this office on
November 1-5, 1993.
The inspection included a review of activities authorized
'
for your South Texas Project Electric Generating Station, Units 1 and 2,
t
"
facility. At the conclusion of the inspection, the findings were discussed
with you and those members of your staff identified in the enclosed report.
Areas examined during the inspection are identified in the report and
pertained to those open items in the areas of operations staffing which are
required to be resolved prior to restart of Unit 1.
Within these areas, the
,
inspection consisted of selective examinations of procedures and
'
representative records, interviews with personnel, and observation of
'i
activities in progress. The results of this inspection are documented on
page 1, in the enclosed report.
In summary, NRC determined that substantial
progress had been made in the area of operations staffing; however, this issue
will remain open pending further NRC review to assess the effectiveness of
certain actions that are planned to be implemented to address this area.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," a copy of
this letter and its enclosures will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
