o iwhich might hamper L the project. Attached is the Security Boundary Upgrade Project Status Report for the bimonthly period ending September 30, 1990. This report includes discussion a regarding background and past accomplishments in our overall' ef forts to upgrade. the entire plant security-boundary, the milestones - for those ef forts g now-focusing-on-the south boundary, and the related actions completed since the submittal of our last report. Previous status reports on this subject were submitted for bimonthly periods. Per discussion between Entergy Operations personnel and W. J. Tobin 1 of-NRC Region II on September 28, 1990, future status reports are not requi d to be submitted on a regular basis. Although not required, we currently I ' anticipate submitting a report covering the period October 1 - December 31, K 1990;in January, 1991. ' BACKGROUND-g" ' _GGNS t.ecurity has been reviewed by the NRC'a number of times.in the past several years..Entergy operatius feels that these inspections and reviews have confirnL d.the overall strength of the GGNS security program 4 ' and physical features. In addition, GGNS has worked with.the NRC to upgrade specific security areas to ensure that any concerns or potential problems were promptly. identified and resolved. These upgrades have represented a large comitment in both manpower and financial resources. Some specific improvements, and their approximate completion dates,

SECURITY BOUNDARY UPGRADE PROJECT: The NRC inspections and reviews mentioned above, including the 1988 l Regulatory Effectiveness Review (RER), identified an issue which is the. j l focus.of this' series of; status reports. The Security Boundary Upgrade 1 T_' Project.was: initiated due to concerns with camera coverage on the south l boundary.. Studyc f the. issue has:1dentified-.two related concerns which ( o must be concurrently addressed to obtain an effective ; Aution to the U camera coverage issue.
