This refers to your application dated June 22, 1982, for an administrative amendment to Certificate of Compliance No. 5942, Rev. No. 4, which would replace the referenced package drawings with a revised set of drawings.
We have reviewed the revised drawings and have found that the infomation presented is not in complete agreement with the drawings presently referenced by the certificate.
Action on the administrative amendment cannot be completed until the areas identified in the enclosure to this letter have been addressed.
Please advise us within thirty (30) days from the date of this letter when this information will be provided.
If you have any questions regarding this matter, we will be pleased to meet with you and your staff.

Material specification for Item 2, hex. hd. bolts, does not agree with specification given on drawing No. 289E642.

o Base detail - Zone B-5, the 0.25 fillet weld shown in the weld symbol which joins the cone to the ring appears to be in error and should be deleted.

o to the base plates is not in agreement with the weld requimment shown on Drawing No.195F127 (fillet weld both sides).
o Protective Jacket - Give the location and overall dimensions of the elongated pocket shown on the jacket shell.

Drawing No. 12904770, Model No. 700 Shipping Cask Cask Extension o
Clarify drain valve guard requirement. Drawing No. 237E325 calls for a 1-1/2 x 1-1/2 x 1/4 angle, 3 inches long to be welded to the top surface of the extension to provide protection for the drain valve. The safety analysis report and Drawing No. 289E646 describe the valve guard as a steel channel which l
1s bolted to the lifting structure. The revised drawing does not show either feature.
o Drawing No. 237E325 specifies the drain valve to be Lukenheimer Co. Fig. #1732. The revised drawing should give appropriate valve specification.
o Item 31, Drain Line Access Tube - call out should specify well i
thickness.
o The dimensional thickness should be given for either the top or bottom plate to clarify the call out of items 32 and 35.

Overall height (64.25) does not agree with Drawing No. 289E646 (64.87).
o Diameter of cavity for cask lid (21.38) does not agree with DrawingNo.289E646(21.50).
o Lifting ear dimension (10.75) does not agree with Drawing No.
289E646 (10.00).
o Weld detail of drain line coupling to top plate does not agree with Drawing No. 289E646.
o Weld symbol joining the 21.38 diameter inner shell to the ring is not correct. Symbol should indicate a single bevel instead of the double bevel shown.
o Weld detail joining the inner shell to the inner bottom plate does not agree with the weld detail shown Drawing No. 289E646.
Cask Lid o
The 10.00 dimension does not agree with Drawing No.129D4059 (10.50).
o Valve Guard material is not the same as called for on Drawing No. 129D4059.
O Call out of Relief Valve, Item 15, should include valve specification.
o Gasket Back-up ring material call out should be more specific, i.e., stn. stl.
