TIME EXTENSION By letter postmarked July 14, 1982, Intervenors Christa-Maria, et al. ("Intervenors") filed three motions, namely:

1.

Motion to reopen the hearing record concerning cask drop; 2.

Motion to extend time for filing findings of fact and conclusions of law concerning cask drop and NEPA issues; and 3.

Motion for clarification of proceed-ings on contentions regarding seismic qualifications of crane.

Except as indicated below, replies from Consumers Power Company (" Licensee") and the NRC Staff are due by Juiy 29, and August 3 respectively.

This Motion for a Time Extension only concerns the first motion, i.e.,

the motion to reopen the hearing record concerning cask drop.

The second motion has been ruled upon,1/ and Licensee intends to respond to tne 1/

The time for filing findings on the NEPA issues has been extended to August 16 by ruling of the Licensing Board.

. motion for clarification by July 29.

Accordingly, Licensee moves this Atomic Safety and Licensing Board

(" Licensing Board to enter an order extending the time to Reply to Intervenors' motion to August 6, 1982.

In support of the Motion, Licensee states:

1.

Intervenors' motion to reopen the hearing record is based on the May 19, 1982 mail. gram to Mr. Keppler of NRC's Division of Inspection and Enforcement, Region III.

The mailgram is from Licensee's Department of Nuclear Licensing, and the individual having primary licensing responsibility for this matter is Mr. Thomas Bordine.

Mr. Bordine is on vacation and he will not return until August 2, 1982.

Mr. Bordine's participation in the development of the affidavits needed to support Licensee's response to Intervenors' motion is essential.

2.

The time extension requested is modest, 6 working days.

Neither counsel for the NRC Staff nor Intervenors object to the motion.

However, in the case of the NRC Staff, counsel requests that the Staff's time be extended from

- s. August 3 to August 13 to determine whether any reply to Licensee's filing is appropriate.

For good cause shown, the motion should be granted.

Respectfully _ submitted, Q - -b
