SUBJECT: NOVEMBER 9, 1993, PUBLIC MEETING DOCUMENTATION
l
l
!
This refers to the public meeting conducted on November 9, 1993, at our
!
request, at the NRC Region IV Office in Arlington, Texas. The meeting was
[
attended by those listed in Attachment 1.
l
!
This meeting was held to discuss operator performance concerns described in
i
NRC Inspection Report 50-482/93-24.
Specific concerns discussed included
l
l
conduct of licensed operator duties, operator attentiveness to panel
.
!
'
indications, and the increased incidence of personnel errors in areas under
!
the cognizance of operations personnel.
i
i
We found that your staff had a good understanding of our concerns as expressed
i
in the report cover letter and that immediate corrective actions have been
i
implemented to address operator errors. Although.we recognize your efforts to
j
correct this problem, we remain concerned that personnel errors continue to-
j
occur and we will continue to monitor your progress in addressing this issue.
We found the information exchange informative and were encouraged by the
!
involvement of your shift supervisors in the meeting.
(
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," Part 2,
l
Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, a copy of this letter will be placed in -
l
the NRC Public Document Room.
t
l
i
Should you have any questions concerning this matter, we will be pleased to
j
discuss them with you.
i
Sincerely,
{
