Comnletion of Bulletin 88-04 Modifications-In our responses to'NRC Bulletin 88 04, " Potential Safety-Related Pump JLoss", dated October 10, 1988 and March 20, 1989,- we provided our i commitment to modify the - orifices in the Prairie Island safety injection pump rec _irculation lines to provide the preferred balance between required safety injection ~ flow and miniflow.
The purpose of this letter is to inform'you of the completion of all the long term actions taken in
-response to NRC Bulletin 88-04.
The'long term actions taken in. response to NRC Bulletin 88 04 involved c
h the : modification of the safety injecticn pump recirculation lines to j
incorporate a 72 gpm minimum recirculation. flow orifice. The safety l
injection pump minimum flow was increased from 47. gpm to 72 gpm based-jupon projected maximum operating time in the minimum flow modo and upon
'l ~,
recommendations of the pump manufacturer. Modifications to the safety injection pump recirculation lines were completed on February 14,1990 for Unit'l and on September 28,,1990 for. Unit 2.
