Response to Verbal Request on November 4, 1993 (TAC Nos. 76891/76892)

A conference call was held on November 4, 1993, concerning Technical Specification Change Request Nos.

179/42 for Beaver Valley Power Station (BVPS)-

Unit No. 1 and No.

2, respectively, submitted to the i

NRC on June 14, 1990.

The NRC reviewer questioned the designation for the BVPS Unit No.

1 480 volt emergency busses.

The proposed Technical Specification Change Nos. 179/42 denotes the two emergency i

busses as "8N" and "9P."

The Updated Final Safety Analysis Report I

(UFSAR)

Figure 8.1-1 denotes the same two emergency busses as "1N" i

and "1P."

i In

addition, the NRC reviewer also noted that on BVPS Unit No. 2 UFSAR Figure 8.3-3, the DC busses are not as clearly identified as they are on UFSAR Figure 8.3-14.

Specifically, DC busses 2-3 and 2-4

{

appear to be designated as

" BAT *BKR2-3" and " BAT *BKR2-4."

It was l

stated that these designations are in reference to the-battery-I breakers and were not intended to be the DC bus designation.

The correct designations are DC bus 2-3 and DC bus 2-4.

l t

Agreement was reached that a review of the existing terminology against standard nomenclature, as it applies to the above figures, would be conducted and changes made where consistency and clarity j

could be improved.

Any changes to the UFSARs will be accomplished i

during the next updtte cycle.

j If you have any further questions ~ or require additional information concerning the

above, please contact G.

S.

Sovick at (412) 393-5211.

i Sincerely, i
