APPLICANTS' MOTION FOR EXTENSION OF TIME WITHIN WHICH TO FILE EXCEPTIONS On July 20, 1982, the Atomic Safety and Licensing Board issued a Partial Initial Decision on seismic matters herein.

Under 10 C.F.R.

S2.762, the time within which Applicants may file exceptions will expire on July 30, 1982.

Applicants hereby move that the time within which they may file exceptions to the Par-tial Initial Decision be extended to the later of the following:

August 20, 1982 or the time when exceptions to the balance of the initial decision herein are due.

The time for filing briefs in support of exceptions would be calculated accordingly.

The Intervenor, Mr. Bursey and counsel for the NRC Staff have authorized us to state that they have no objection to the requested extension, provided that the dates for filing exceptions for all parties as provided in 10 C.F.R. 52.762 are correspond-ingly adjusted, to which have no objection.

The reasons for the extension of time are as follows.

One of the principal subjects as to which Applicants may except relates 0

S

. to matters on which Applicants' key advisor and expert, Dr. Chang Chen, is presently out of the country.

Dr. Chen will not return until about August 8, 1982.

Applicants consider Dr. Chen's ad-vice essential on these matters.

Secondly, the licensing board indicated in its partial de-cision that the balance of its decision would be issued " shortly" (Introduction, p. 3).

In the circumstances, it would appear reasonable, and not prejudicial to the appellate process, to take up all exceptions moreor less together.

Respectfully submitted,
