Mr. Kenneth Ewald, Manager Nuclear Business Unit Rosemount Aerospace, Incorporated 1
1256 Trapp Road Eagan, Minnesota 55121 l
Dear Mr. Ewald:
As you are aware, Rosemount, Incorporated, and the NRC staff have shared an ongoing concern in addressing and resolving Rosemount transmitter issues, and over the years, the staffs of Rosemount and of the NRC have been engaged in fruitful dialogue and active cooperation.
In response to recently identified concerns, the Rosemount Transmitter Review Group (RTRG) was established by Mr. James Sniezek, Deputy Executive Director, NRC, in a memorandum dated May 21, 1993, to obtain an overall assessment of the Rosemount transmitter oil-loss concerns.
This assessment included an evaluation of the adequacy of the actions specified in NRC Bulletin 90-01, Supplement 1, " Loss of fill-Oil in Transmitters Manufactured by Rosemount."
One of the several recommendations made by the RTRG in the "Rosemount Transmitter Review Group Report on the Loss-Of-fill-Oil Issue," was recommendation two which stated:
"Over the next two years, continue to maintain periodic dialogue with Rosemount through meetings, telephone discussions, and inspections, to track performance of the different model transmitters with regard to i
loss of fill-oil; consider any change to NRC Bulletin 90-01, Supplement 1 as appropriate.
Reevaluate the need and frequency for this review after two years."
j In response to this recommendation, we are interested in meeting with you in early to mid-February at NRC Headquarters.
The focus of the meeting will be issues pertaining to Rosemount transmitter models 1151, 1152, ll53A/B/D, and 1154 that have arisen since March 9, 1990.
Specifically, we are interested in being apprised of any issues, problems, and concerns that Rosemount has experienced, or is aware of, with respect to the aforementioned transmitter models.
We anticipate additional meetings with you at approximately 6-month intervals over the next 2 years to continue to share information on actions being taken
{
both by Rosemount and by the NRC staff to resolve concerns with Rosemount transmitters.
In continuing with the shared positive participation that has been experienced 11 O Sd between Rosemount staff and NRC staff, we look forward to meeting with you.
L Please contact me at your earliest convenience, and indicate a day and time O
i that is most convenient for you.
