period October 18-22, 1993. The inspection included a review.of activities authorized for your South Texas Project facility. At the conclusion of the.
inspection, the findings were discussed with those members.of your staff i identified in the enclosed report. , Areas examined during the inspection are identified.in the report. 'Within l these areas the inspection consisted of a review of the actions that you have
taken to improve the reliability of the turbine-driven _ auxiliary feedwater
pumps and the initiatives you have taken to enhance the testing methodology of i i l these pumps. Based on the results of this inspection, it was. determined that . pending the satisfactory completion of the unfinished. MODE 3 testing of the ! ' Unit I turbine-driven auxiliary feedwater pump, sufficient improvements have i been accomplished that Restart Issue No. 1 identified in Inspection i ~ Report 50-498/93-31; 50-499/93-31 is considered resolved.- In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," a copy of l this letter and its enclosures will be placed in the NRC Public Document' Room. - l Should you have any questions concerning this inspection, we will be pleased l to discuss them with you.
