Gentlemen:
SUBJECT: NRC EXAMINATION REPORT NO. 50-321/93-301
This refers to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) administered
examinations led by Michael E. Ernstes during the period September 27 -
1
October 6, 1993. The examinations were administered to employees of your
company who currently hold licenses to operate the E. I. Hatch Nuclear Plant.
At the conclusion of the examination, the examinations and preliminary
findings were discussed with those members of your staff identified in the NRC
Examination Report, Enclosure 1.
A Simulator Fidelity Report is provided as Enclosure 2.
A copy of the written
examination questions and answer key, as noted in Enclosure 3, was provided to
members of your training staff at the conclusion of the exanination.
We are concerned with your operators' inability to access the equipment needed
to complete certain steps in the Emergency Operating Procedures from outside
of the control room.
You are invited to respond, within 30 days of the date
of this letter, with your plans to assure that your operators are familiar
with and have ready access to this equipment.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commission's regulations, a copy of
this letter and the enclosures will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
