SUIUECT: NRC INSPECTION REPORT NO. 50-443/93-19

This letter transmits the report of the safety inspection findings of the resident staff at

Seabrook Station for the period of October 5 through November 8,1993. The inspection .

,

consisted of document reviews, personnel interviews, and observations of activities important

to the health and safety of the public. The inspector discussed the findings with .Mr. W.

'

DiProfio and members of your staff after the inspection.

Overall, this inspection found that activities were conducted safely. Your staffimproved

safety by focusing on minimizing challenges to the plant. Good operator actions prevented a

reactor trip during a surveillance test. Increased management attention resulted in improved

plant housekeeping.

.

You exceeded the 30 day reporting requirement for submitting a licensee event report. The

violation is not being cited based on the low safety significance of the late report, and your-

identifying and correcting the cause of the late report.
