[External_Sender] Holtec Indian Point 1/16/2020 NRC meeting questions Date: Wednesday, February 26, 2020 12:27:28 PM Regarding the 1/16/2020 NRC/Holtec meeting for the license amendment request to replace the Indian Point Unit No. 3 fuel handling building crane with a new Holtec 110-ton high-lift single failure proof crane, it was difficult to understand the slides without more technical details on these various containers.

Looking forward to reading your RAI's. I do have a few questions now.

At what point is the water jacket filled with water in the transfer cask?

Does the weight of the transfer cask given on the slide include water in the water jacket?

With shorter fuel cooling times, I expect these canisters will be very hot and more radioactive than what really should be well over a decade of cooling.

Will the extra handling of the fuel between the pools increase risks of fuel assembly damage?

I don't have enough information on the new container used to transfer fuel assemblies from one pool to another to comment on this issue.

Are there any technical documents available yet?

Thanks for reaching out. I appreciate it.
