INSPECTIONS OF REACTOR VESSEL HEAD CLADDING AT THE VERMONT YANKEE NUCLEAR POWER STATION (TAC NO. M87040)
By letter dated July 1,1993, Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Corporation (VYNPC) submitted its reactor vessel head cladding inspection plan for the 1993 refueling outage in accordance with a commitment made to the NRC and documented in a letter from the NRC to VYNPC dated April 17, 1992. The NRC staff has reviewed the inspection plan and concludes that it is acceptable provided the ultrasonic techniques are at least as sensitive as those used in the original inspection conducted in 1992, the acceptance criteria is contained in IWB-3520.2 of Section XI of the 1989 Edition of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Code, and the findings are submitted in a report to the NRC including a discussion on future activities beyond the 1993 refueling outage.
