RELIEF REQUEST 51-VRR-2 RELATED TO INSERVICE TESTING PROGRAM, LIMERICK GENERATING STATION, UNITS 1 AND 2 (TAC NOS. M86509 AND M86510)

P By letter dated May 18, 1993, you requested relief from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Boiler and Pressure Vessel (B&PV) Code,Section XI, Subsection IWV requirements regarding exercising testing of check valves in the forward direction.

Pursuant to 10 CFR 50.55a(f)(6)(i) the staff grants relief based on the impracticability of measuring directly the flow rate, in consideration of the licensee's proposed alternative, and in recognition of the burden on tne licensee if the Code requirements were imposed. The staff's safety evaluation is enclosed.

The staff considers this matter resolved and is closing out TAC Nos. M86509 and M86510.
