September 24, 1993 CHAIRMAN Dr. Djal; Ahimsa, Director General Badan Tenaga Atom Nasional J1.KH. Abdu.' Rochim Kuningan Barat Mampang Prapatan Kotak Pos: 4390 Jakarta 12043, Indonesia

Dear Dr. Ahimsa:

I refer to your letter of August 18 requesting further information on the status of proposed BATAN assignees to the NRC staff.

The NRC Office of International Programs (OIP) has worked with the Executive Director for Operations to accommodate up to four BATAN staff members per year for the next three years in on-the-job training assignments, which will include classroom instruction at the NRC's Technical Training Center in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

These are currently proposed to begin in January 1994, 1995, and 1996, respectively.

You will receive within the next few weeks a more detailed training proposal from OIP.

We look forward to this expansion of our nuclear safety cooperation.

Sincerely,

//-
