Our response to Generic Letter 89-10 follows:

Reporting Reaufrement (1):

Within 90 days of receipt of this letter, all licensees are required to j

notify the NRC staff of the diagnostic equipment used to confirm the proper size, or to establish settings, for HOVs within the scope of GL 89-10.

Respons(1 Prairie Island presently uses VOTES, Version 2.31, by Liberty Technologies.

Reportinn Renuirement (2):

Within 90 days of receipt of this letter, licensees are required to report whether they have taken actions or plan to take actions (including schedule and summary of actions taken or planned) to address the information on the accuracy of MOV diagnostic equipment.

Response

All GL 89-10 MOVs set using the ITI-MOVA'lS were evaluated using the ITI-MOVATS Engineering Report 5.2 and NM! ARC guidelines.

Version 2.3 or 2.31 using the guidance provided by Liberty Technologies.

Thrust calculations used to determine settings for GL 89-10 MOVs take into account the VOTES inaccuracy published by Liberty Technologies.

In this response, we have made no new NRC commitments.
