SUBJECT:
CONFIRMATORY MEASUREMENTS INSPECTION AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN
FORD NUCLEAR REACTOR
This refers to the routine safety inspection conducted by Messrs.S. Orth and
C. McKenney of this office on September 7-10, 1993. The inspection included a
review of authorized activities for the University of Michigan Ford Nuclear
Reactor facility. At the conclusion of the inspection, the findings were
discussed with those members of your staff identified in the enclosed report.
Areas examined during the inspection are identified in the report.
Within
these areas, the inspection consisted of a selective examination of procedures
and representative records, interviews with personnel, and observation of
activities in progress. In addition, our Mobile Laboratory was at the site
during the inspection to perform independent measurements of radioactivity.
No violations of NRC requirements were identified during the course of this
inspection.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commission's regulations, a copy of
this letter and the enclosed inspection report will be placed in the NRC
Public Document Room.
