This is to document that the Civil / Structural calculations for the Licensing Support of the ABWR project have been performed in accordance with the Bechtel QA Project Procedures Manual.
An internal' QA/ technical audit has been performed to verify compliance with project procedural and QA requirements.
The calculations are available for inspection at the ABWR project office in Bechtel.

Dear Mr. Quirk:
This letter is in response to the reference conversation and, as requested, confirms the following points:-
i.
The Bechtel work supporting safety related items in the ABWR Standard Safety Analysis Report (SSAR) are in compliance with the project Nuclear Quality Assurance Plan and Bechtel Nuclear Quality Assurance Manual,in compliance with 10CFR50 Appendix B requirements.
ii.
Engineering is controlled through the use of Standard EDPs (Engineering Department Procedures) which -implement 10CFR50 Apr_adix B requirements.
iii. The calculations supporting the SSAR have been checked and audits conducted to verify their technical content and conformance to applicable angineering procedures and QA requirements.
Early preliminary studies have been reworked for the SSAR submittals.
