This letter refers to the announced physical security program inspection conducted by
Mr. G. Smith of this office on August 9-13,1993, at Beaver Valley Power Station, of activities
authorized by NRC License Nos. DPR-66 and NPF-73 and to the discussions of our findings
held with you and other members of your staff by Mr. Smith at the conclusion of the inspection.
Areas examined during the inspection are important to public health and safety and are described
in the NRC Region I inspection report which is enclosed with this letter. The inspection
consisted of selective examinations of security procedures and representative records, interviews

with personnel and observations by the inspector.

We found that your physical security program is effective and directed toward assuring public
health and safety. Management support for and interest in the program was evident by
improvements and enhancements that were made since the previous inspection. No safety
concerns or violations of regulatory requirements were identified.
