STRUCTURAL AND SEISMIC DESIGN INFORMATION FOR THE MODULAR HIGH l
TEMPERATURE GAS COOLED REACTOR (MHTGR) DESIGN l
One area in the preapplication review of the MHTGR design is the structural and seismic design.
The Office of Nuclear Regulatory Research (RES) in the Nuclear Regulatory Commission is managing a contract to review and evaluate the structural and seismic design codes and standards for the MHTGR. One document the contractor is reviewing is the Preliminary Safety Information l
Document (PSID) for the design, up to and including Amendment 13.
l In recent discussions with the Plant Development Control Office about the RES contract, we understand that you may have additional information on the.
i structural design of the MHTGR which is not in the PSID, because the design is still evolving. You are requested to provide this additional information within 90 days of the receipt of this letter.
This reporting requirement affects nine or fewer respondents and, therefore, is not subject to Office of Management and Budget review under P.L.96-511.
