\\
The NRC staff and its consultant, Brookhaven National Laboratory, have j
completed their review of the Combustion Engineering Owners Group (CE0G)
Report CEN-387-P, " Pressurizer Surge Line Flow Stratification," including l
Revision I dated December 1991. The staff concludes that the CEOG analysis adequately demonstrates that the bounding surge line and nozzles meet ASME i
Code stress and fatigue requirements. for the 40-year design life ~ of CE0G t
l facilities considering the phenomenon of thermal stratification and thermal striping. The staff's safety evaluation (SE).of CEN-387-P, Revision 1, is l
l enclosed.
i j
Action 1.d of Bulletin 88-11 required licensees to update their stress and fatigue analyses to ensure compliance with applicable Code requirements. The CEOG Report CEN-387-P can be used by individual licensees to update plant-l specific Code stress reports as required by Item 1.d.
A copy of the SE has f
been forwarded to the respective CEOG licensees along with guidance for
[
completing Item 1.d.
