SUBJECT:

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FROM BWROG RE: ACCIDENT MANAGEMENT At the July 7, 1993 meeting with industry on accident management, the BWROG proposed a methodology by which utilities can assign BWROG-developed response actions to E0Ps or SAMG without taking deviations to the BWROG product.

Hypothetically, this methodology could be used by utilities to relocate actions now in the EPGs to the new accident management guidelines or procedures.

In response to staff concerns regarding the extent to which the methodology might be used for this purpose, the BWROG has polled member utilities to determine which strategies presently embodied in the EPGs might be reevaluated using the proposed methodology.

The results of this survey are summarized in the enclosure to this note. While those portions of the EPGs that would potentially be impacted is described in only very general terms, this information provides some additional insights into the possible impact of the methodology on the EPGs.

The last page of the enclosure provides an accounting of which of the j

strategies developed as part of the owners group's severe accident management i

activity might be evaluated using the proposed methodology.

However, the BWROG has not yet provided a description of what each of these strategies are.

This information will be discussed further during the next meeting with the BWROG on accident management.
