Dear Mr. Chairman:

Section 15 of Public Law 100-408, "The Price-Anderson Amendments Act of 1988" enacted on August 20, 1988, requires the U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission to adjust the maximum standard deferred premium, presently 1

established at $63 million, for inflation.

Therefore, the Commission is amending its regulations in 10 CFR 140.ll(a)(4) to increase the $63 million per reactor por accident premium to $75.5 million per reactor per accident in accordance with the aggregate percentage change of 19.9 percent in the Consumer Price Index from August, 1988, through March, 1993.
