BYRON AND BRAIDWOOD METHODOLOGY TO DISPOSITION rlA IN CLASS 2 COMPONENTS (TAC NOS. M84433, M84434, H84435, M845 m By letter dated August 25, 1993, Commonwealth Edison Company requested NRC review and approval of a methodology to disposition flaws in Class 2 components.

This methodology was to be used to evaluate the RHR heat exchanger nozzle to shell welds.

Initial review by the NRC staff indicated that before the methodology could be approved by the NRC, it would first have to be approved by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).

This t.as conveyed to Joseph Bauer of your staff by telephone and he agreed to withdraw the request for NRC review, pending review by the ASME.

Therefore, we now consider your request withdrawn.

Pending review by ASME and subsequent review and approval by the NRC, the ASME Class I flaw evaluation criteria should be followed for the Class 2 RHR heat exchanger nozzle.
