Thank'you for your letter of August 5,1993, which provided an initial response to our letter of June-10,1993, which forwarded the Diagnostic
. Evaluation Team (DET) report for the South Texas Project Electric Generating Station.
i We understand that;a more complete response that will outline specific actions
-you_ plan to take to assure timely resolution of performance deficiencies and I
address root causes will be submitted in two. documents. The first document, which you intend to address the issues in'the DET report, the Confirmatory Action Letter and its supplement, and other NRC inspections will be provided in the form of an Operational Readiness Plan, that will address near-term issues requiring resolution prior to either unit's restart. The Business F
- Plan, the secend document which you~ intend to submit, will address longer-term i
issues. We understand that the Operational Readiness Plan will be provided to NRC on August 27, 1993, and the Business Plan on October 15, 1993. We find your proposed schedule for ' submission of these plans to be acceptable.

- addressed, NRC plans to review both the Operational Readiness Plan and the Business Plan prior to the publ_ic neeting that will be conducted to discuss the readiness'of either unit to restart.
