SUBJECT: INSPECTION REPORT NOS. 50-317/93-24 AND 50-318/93-24
This letter refers to the inspection conducted by Mr. S. Chaudhary of this office on
July 19-23,1993, and July 28-30,1993, at the Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant in Lusby,
Maryland. Mr. Chaudhary discussed the results of the inspection with Mr. M. Gahan and
other members of your staff on July 23,1993, at the conclusion of the first phase of the
inspection.
This inspection was directed toward areas important to public health and safety. Areas
examined during this inspection are described in the NRC Region I inspection report, which
is enclosed with this letter. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of selective
examinations of procedures and representative records, interviews with personnel, and
observations by the inspector.
The inspection has indicated that your maintenance and surveillance program for snubbers
,

and pipe supports is effective in assuring the safety functions of these items, and the
!
construction operations applicable to the concrete placement activities for the new diesel
i
generator building are satisfactory.
