NRC Transportation Inspection This refers to the announced, special inspection of safeguards and irradiated fuel transportation activities by Messrs. D. Schuster and D. Chaney of this office on April 8,1993, and authorized by NRC License SNM 1270.

The inspection included a review of your activities associated with the irradiated fuel shipment from the Babcock & Wilcox's Lynchburg Technology Center, Lynchburg, Virginia to the General Electric Vallecitos Nuclear Energy Center, i

Pleasanton, California.

At the conclusion of the site visit on April 8,1993, the findings were discussed with those members of your staff identified in the enclosed report.

Areas examined during this inspection are identified in the report. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of selective examinations of procedures i

and representative records, interviews with facility and transportation personnel, and observations by the inspectors.

Within the scope of the inspection no violations or deviations were identified.

In accordance with Section 2.790(d) of NRC's " Rules of Practice," Part 2, Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, documentation of the findings of your safeguards and security measures are exempt from public disclosure; therefore, the enclosed inspection report will not be placed in the Public Document Room and will receive limited distribution.
