Guide 1.108 w,,,g July 19,1993 REGULATORY GUIDE DISTRIBUTION LIST (DIVISION 1)
SUBJECT:
WITHDRAWAL OF REGULATORY GUIDE 1.108 The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has withdrawn Regulatory Guide 1.108,
" Periodic Testing of Diesel Generator Units Used as Onsite Electric Power Systems at Nuclear Power Plants." The guide was issued in August 1976 (Revision 1, August 1977) to provide guidance on methods acceptable to the NRC staff for periodic testing of diesel generator units to ensure the units could meet availability requirements.
The guidance in Regulatory Guide 1.108 has been updated and incorporated into Revision 3 of Regulatory Guide 1.9, " Selection, Design,. Qualification, and Testing of Emergency Diesel Generator Units Used as Class lE Onsite Electric Power Systems at Nuclear Power Plants," which was issued recently.
Since there is no longer a need for Regulatory Guide 1.108, it has been withdrawn.
However, the withdrawal of Regulatory Guide 1.108 does not alter any prior _ or existing licensing commitments based on its use.
Regulatory guides may also be withdrawn when they are superseded by the Commission's regulations, when equivalent recommendations have been incorpora-ted in applicable approved codes and standards, or when changes in methods and techniques or in the need for specific guidance have made them obsolete.
