Electrical Distribution System Functional Inspection i
Your letter of June 11, 1993 which transmitted Inspection Report Nos.
282/93007(DRS) and 306/93007(DRS), requested a response to Unresolved Item-(282/93007-02; 306/93007-02):
We request that you submit within 60 days _of the date of the letter transmitting this inspection report, a wr!.tten response detailing:
(1) the steps that will be taken to address the damper issue; and (2) the date when the analyses will be completed.
Our response follows.
We have contracted with an engineering firm to analyze the dampers for tornado-loadings. As discussed in the inspection reports, we placed each associated damper in the open position and we will maintain each damper open during Prairie Island's tornado season until the analyses justify alternate positioning. We will complete the analyses by November 1, 1993 and so will maintain each damper open until the current tornado season is over.
Since long-term resolution is pending the results of the analyses, we are presently making no new NRC commitments.
