Subject:
Clarification of Scope Quality Assurance Program Approval No. 0242 Gentlemen:
This letter is in response to telephone conversations between Mr. Tom Matula of your office and myself, and is intended to clarify the scope of our approved Quality Assurance Program for Radioactive Material Packages.
Law Engineering, Inc's structure is that of a corporate office located in Atlanta, GA with various branch operations located in a number of states, primarily in the southeast. Several of these branch operations possess and use radioactive material for purposes of construction testing and industrial radiography. Most of these locations are located in Agreement States and are licensed with the appropriate Agreement State Authority. We do maintain an NRC Radioactive Materials License for our operations in the State of Virginia and elsewhere that may fall under NRC jurisdiction.
The previously submitted and approved Quality Assurance Program for Radioactive Material Packages is intended to apply specifically to our operations in Virginia conducted under our NRC license and to any of our other operations whenever they may operate in areas that are under NRC jurisdiction, either through reciprocity considerations or under the NRC Radioactive Materials license. A copy of the Quality Assurance Progrun and-approval (NRC form 311) have been supplied to each of our licensed locations, fo'r their use and reference in these cases.
