r Comments of Commissioner Remick on SECY-93-107 I approve the staff's recommendation to pursue Alternative 3 in SECY-93-107 for the assignment of LSS program and budget responsibilities.
I also approve Option 3 for funding NRC's LSS responsibilities.
I agree with Commissioner.Curtiss that the staff should clarify its proposal to modify the LSS rules to condition NRC's acceptance of DOE's application for the repository on DOE's finishing the LSS.
I agree with Commissioner Curtiss that it would be inappropriate to condition the high-level waste repository project on the completion of the LSS.
Finally, I join the Chairman and commissioner Curtiss in commending the staff for a highly professional analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of the various alternatives with respect to the agency's program, budget responsibilities, and funding for the LSS program.
