Your letter of August 22 requested infornation on the radiological environ-mental programs foi cur nuclear plant projects. %e Pre-Operational Radio-logical Environmental Program for our Fbnticello Plant has been underway for nore than one year; hcwever, we are just now fornulating th: program for our Prairie Island Plant which is a two-unit installation with the first unit scheduled for conmercial operaticn in May,1972. With the htnticello Plant scieduled for ca.rmercial cperation next May, we will have nore than two years of pre-q;erational data for both plants. me programs will continue into the plant operational periods as required.
Our Final Safety Analysis Report (FSAR) submitted in Novmber,1968 in sup-port of our application for an operating license for our Manticello Plant in-cluded a description of the Environmental Radiological Monitoring Program.
Your letter of May 1,1969 conveyed co:tments on the program frcnt the Unita$
States Fish and Wildlife Service, and we accordingly have nodified our program.
%ese changes in the program were reflected in Amd:ent No.15 to our FSAR which was submitted under a date of July 2, 1969.
Per your request we are enclosing two copies of our 1968 Annual Beport on the Fbnticello Environnental Manitoring Program. Bis report covers ecological studies as well as the radiological surveys. Appendix C of the report is a general description of the environnental nonitoring program as it existed on September 1, 1968. Also enclosed are two copies of a descriptive booklet up-dating the scope of our environnental nonitoring program. %e revised scope includes the changes rectrrended by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service as well as certain other changes and expansions that we have made in our overall j
1 program. We regret that we are unable to furnish fift;an copies of these re-ports as you have rtre sted; however, the reports are anenable to any copying process.
We anticipate t h ne overall nonitoring program for our Prairie Island Plant will follow quite closely the program that we have underway for our Fbnticello Plant as described in the enclosed booklet. Sampling staticns 2301

Our letter of July 9, responding to Mr. Price's letter of June 27, trans-mitted a report on the envircnwntal program that we are conducting for our l
fossil-fueled A. S. King Generating Plant. 'Ihe report covers the first year l
of operation for the plant and may be helpful to you in considering the mat-ter of thental effects.
