This development was a seriour shock to us, because the ACRS Subconnittcc vill visit the ' te on Nove:rber 29, and as far >

As we have discussed many times uith Mr Harold Price and with Dr Horris, it is essential that the Monticello Plant be capable of generating po'.'er for the 1970 numer peak load periods on the NSP system. The attached chart shous the critical nature of the power supply in our area and the necessity for the availability

Another urgent reason for consideration of Monticello at the December meeting of ACRS is the evidence which points to probable intervention and consequent public hearing after  :

completion of the ACRS review and the following public announce-ment of ALC intention to issue an operating license. It is essential that these developments be surmounted as early in 1970 as practicabic so that they will not delay the production of electric power from the Monticello Plant during the heavy electric-power demand periods of July and August of 1970.

We request that you discurs the urgency of the Monticello project with the Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards and urge him to retain the consideration of the I
