This refers to your application dated May 31, 1990, requesting renewal of.

Certificate of Complionce No. 9053 far the Model No. 683 package. Since an application was submittcd at least 30 days prior to the expiration of the Certificate of Compliance, the Certificate of Compliance will not be deemed to have expired until the application has finally been determined.

'In connection with our review of your renewal request, we need the information identified in the enclosure to this letter. This information should be provided within 60 days from the date of this letter. Additional information requested by this letter should be submitted in the form of revised pages.

1. Revise item 4 on page 7.6 to specify that any discrepancies in items 1-3 be reported to Amersham Corporation.

fleentance Testina and Maintenance Proaram

1. The application does not provide adequate information on acceptance tests.

The ap)11 cation should specify the acceptance tests that would be performed on eaci package prior to first use. These tests should include the il procedures used to verify that the outer steel drum and molded rubberized hair inserts meet required specifications.

2. The maintenance program does not address what actions would be taken to ensure continued performance of the overpack. The program should include periodic inspection of the outer steel drum, molded rubberized hair inserts and other components, replacement schedules, as well as criteria for replacement and repair of components and subsystems on an as needed basis.
