Dear' Senator Simpson:

I am responding to your letter of July 3,1990, in which-you i

expressed opposition to.the proposed closure of the Nuclear -

i Regulatory Commission's Uranium Recovery-Field Office (URFO) -in Denver.

The Commission considered such a proposal in late June 1990, but decided not to initiate ~such action at th s time.

Although our Denver office will remain open,-we may need to reconsider this decision at some future time as budget and workload considerations warrant, l

I appreciate your interest in NRC and its programs.

Sincerely, e -DR:%, b Kenneth it. Carr r
