Michaels far additional information-related to the Ford Nuclear Reactor Requalification Program in a letter dated July 6, 1990; Section 3.2 of the Ford Nuclear Reactor Requalification Program has:been revisedLto include' items'from 10CFR55,45(a)(2)-(13) to the. extent that they are applicable to the Ford Nuclear Reactor.
The current,:NRC approved:Requalification Program for our facility
-requiresionly (1) a reactivity manipulation'and (2) examination-on abnormal and emergency procedures for the operating _ test.
In our revisi'on' te che, program, we added appropriate items from 10CFR56.45, but-we did not include extensive examination on the_
ufacility's. mechanical systems because we do notifeel that is necessary.. inia research reactor.
Our operators check-and operate
- all systems every day during reactor operation, unlike' operators In.a powerLreactorLwho spend their operating time exclusively.in the' control room.
Our building check is a comprehensive-check of all F.ystems t'aat are important to reactor operation and safety,
