In accordance _ w;th the requirements of- 10 CFR 50.33, and 50.75, the following decommi6sioning statement is submitted for the University of California, Irvine TRIGA Nuclear Reactor Facility:

[. 1) The estimated cost of decommissioning the U, C. Irvino Reactor Facility is

$600,000. The_ decommissioning method will involve removal of all radioactive and contaminated material down to levels acceptable for unrestricted use, The ,

cost estimate is based on the recent, actual decommissioning cost of the Michigan State University reactor which was also'a Mark I TRIGA facility.

2) The University of California is a state government institution and therefore,in accordance with the provisions of 10 CFR 50.75 (e)(2)(iv), the funds needed for decommissioning will be requested at the time that a decision to decommission the facility is made.
3) The cost estimate for decommissioning the facility will be periodically adjusted for inflation, taking into account any new data that becomes available. Revised estimates will be reported to the Commission at intervals not to exceed five years.
