Dear Sirs:
i Allied-General Nuclear Services and associated companies l (hereinafter Allied-General, et al.) are holders of !
Construction Permit No'. CPCSF-4 issued by the Atomic Energy Commission on December 18, 1970, for the construction of the Separations. Facility of the Barnwell Nuclear Fuel Plant. The.
original date of completion of construction, as set forth in the Construction from Mr. Leland C. Rouse of the Atomic Energy Commission, this date was extended to December 31, 1976. ]
As the Commission's records will show, Allied-General, et al..has subsequently requested further extensions of the date of completion of construction. Most recently, in a letter dated August 20, 1987, Allied-General et al. requested that 1 extension be granted to September 30, 1990.
Various uncertainties still exist relating to the nuclear waste program, including questions relating to the Government's plans in the area of the Savannah River Plant.
Particularly in view of these uncertainties,.we now request that a further~ extension be granted to September 30, 1993, or such earlier date as the Commission shall deem appropriate under the circumstances.
